VP, Software Engineering

QP (Quantum Pigeon Technologies Inc.) is a social media platform that is focused on providing a secure, private and engaging social media and messaging experience.  Our platform provides a unique way for creators to create and monetize their content and connect with audiences.

The Role:

As VP, Software Engineering, the successful candidate will provide both management and technical leadership in the architecture, design, development, and quality assurance of the QP messenger platform. This position will report to the CEO and is based in Metro Vancouver.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage software engineering team to effectively deliver product releases
  • Work closely with product management, marketing and sales teams to ensure the QP roadmap meets the needs of the market
  • Work closely with the product team to contribute to the creation of the overall architecture, and ensure alignment to the architecture guidelines while meeting product expectations
  • Ensure a product development focus within the team
  • Continually innovate the development processes, tools and best practices
  • Enhance QA and test automation processes and practices
  • Work with operations group to provide support for production and project related issues
  • Continue to drive innovation with software engineering to ensure QP is a high performance and high quality application
  • Coach, mentor, inspire, retain and performance manage a team of highly-skilled software engineers
  • Act as a peer mentor to the leadership team and all team members

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, or comparable background and experience
  • Software development methodologies, specifically agile software development values and practices. Scrum or Lean Software Development preferred
  • Ability to prioritize developmental and operational tasks in a dynamic and challenging environment including changing deadlines/priorities, providing continuous creative risk management
  • Multi-tier application architecture, real-time messaging, structured and unstructured data storage technologies
  • Inspiring and engaging leadership style with excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills

Preferred Experience:

  • 10 years experience developing enterprise class mobile application with at least 5+ as a manager/VP of software engineering teams
  • Developing 24/7 applications with low latency and high volume real time messaging
  • Leading the creation and adoption of a software quality culture
  • Knowledge and understanding of the mobile messaging industry is an asset
  • Experience working with distributed and remote development teams
  • Experience with 3rd party payment processing platforms

As an experienced iOS developer, the successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and quality assurance of the QP Messenger application. This position will report to the Engineering Lead for iOS.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the development team and deliver a high quality product
  • Continuously innovate development processes, tools and best practices
  • Perform code reviews, Unit and BDD Tests
  • Develop audio, video, live streaming, social media feeds and subscription/payment features
  • Secure end-to-end encrypted chats

Qualifications:

As an experienced Android developer, the successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and quality assurance of the QP messenger application. This position will report to the Engineering Manager and is based in Metro Vancouver.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the development team and deliver a high quality product

  • Perform code reviews, Unit and BDD Tests
  • Develop audio, video, live streaming, social media feeds and fully secure end-to-end encrypted chats

Qualifications:

QA Engineer (Mobile)

The Role:

We are rapidly growing and seeking a talented and organized QA Engineer to join our close-knit team in Vancouver. At QP, you will apply your experience and strong skills in leading software quality for consumer mobile applications. You will set testing priorities, work with UX/UI designers, developers, marketing stakeholders and product teams. Your main responsibilities will include creating and implementing tests and defining corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and execute test cases to ensure product quality
  • Continuously innovate industry processes, tools and best practices
  • Track and document bugs
  • Perform regression testing
  • Work with the development and product team, as well as other QA team members

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of testing Android and iOS applications
  • Experience using GIT
  • Knowing how to build projects using Xcode and Android Studio
  • Solid understanding of the basics of HTTP, REST and JSON
  • Experience testing HTTP endpoints using debugging tools such as Charles or ProxyMan
  • Experience working in an Agile environment

Director, Finance

The Role:

As an experienced finance professional, the successful candidate will lead our finance team to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is based in Metro Vancouver.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with external accounting firms and internal accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate bookkeeping and financial reporting of parent company and other subsidiaries
  • Participate in and lead the provision of effective strategic financial planning, recommendation and information
  • Track, analyze and prepare SaaS metrics such as MRR, ARR, LTV, Churn rate etc.
  • Manage accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting records
  • Produce monthly P&L and BS
  • Analyze intercompany accounts/transactions and prepare related adjusting/clearing entries
  • Prepare financial materials and communicate with existing and potential new investors
  • Ensure compliance with financial, government and tax legislations, regulations, and policies

Qualifications:

  • CPA is required
  • Strong SaaS analytical skills
  • Fund raising and M&A experience is a big plus
  • Team player that thrives in a fast-paced, results driven, rapidly changing environment and effectively handles competing priorities
  • Willing to have some evening meetings to communicate with global teams

Preferred Experience:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in accounting and billing departments
  • 3+ years of overseeing finance operations in a SaaS company
